As you are aware, the situation regarding COVID-19 is evolving daily. Please be assured that Woking Blackhawks are monitoring this evolution closely and are following Basketball England’s guidelines which are continuously updated in line with the changing landscape.
*****UPDATE 05/06/2020*****
Dear Blackhawks,
I hope all members and their families continue to remain safe and well, and are maybe getting in some practice where safe to do so.
We have an update from Basketball England, who have just released their ‘Return to Play Guidance document”. Please feel free to read it, and to look at some of their web seminars on the matter over the next few days.
I appreciate most of you are eager to get back to training and the courts. However, it looks like the earliest we might return to indoor play is sometime in Autumn/Fall. Currently, Basketball England is at Level 3. However, even then this might be limited to court availability as a lot of our training facilities are tied in with the schools. We will continue to monitor the situation and are in touch with the schools/colleges with regards to our intentions for training days/times.
Basketball England are also requiring each club to have a COVID Officer. Training will be provided by Basketball England, and the club will set out some guidelines to assist in this role as well. In addition we also urgently need a Welfare officer as Jules Winton is stepping down after three years in the role. It would be good to have parents from the U10 / U12 and Girls squad volunteer for these roles. The Club really relies on volunteer parents to help out with it's Basketball operations. Please let me or your TM know if you are unsure of any of these roles or simply have questions.
Best regards
Russell Fernandes
