Would the Falcons have their wings clipped, or would the Blackhawks be brought down to Earth?
Would the Falcons have their wings clipped, or would the Blackhawks be brought down to Earth?
This week's match report comes from Thomas.
Our first game of 2020 was against Harrow Falcons, who were also the first team we played this season. The away match was tight and this game proved to be similar.
The game started with quite a quiet atmosphere as both teams sized each other up. Harrow scored first then it was tit-for-tat scoring with some good shooting and shows of skill from the Harrow team. Blackhawks weren’t pushed over and kept the score to a five point deficit at the end of the first quarter.

Quarter two saw Blackhawks get off to a fast start evening out the scores but Harrow continued to run us hard. Harrow got themselves into foul trouble, which allowed the Blackhawks to capitalise and walk off with a narrow 2-point lead at half-time, 35-33.
A narrow lead brought an intense focus to the half-time team talk
Quarter three saw Blackhawks take control of the game. Harrow found themselves in foul trouble again and Blackhawks took advantage of this to extended their lead to ten points.

A hard-fought victory against a handy Falcons team, with a late surge by the Blackhawks disguising how close it was
