This week's match report is brought to you by Temi.
On Saturday the 9th of November, the U14 NL basketball team’s game was against Winchester City Royals and was away. We had a strong start with our three top scorers being Temi, Johnny, and Youssef. Johnny scored three nice drives, ending his run on the court with six points. Temi got two speedy spin moves and one good drive to the basket ending the 1st quarter with six points. Youssef played like a great big man and scored three times, whilst scoring one free throw to end it with three points.
The second quarter was where the Woking boys took charge and grew the distance between the teams, as shown in the end score. We had Sean being our top scorer of the game, making thriving drives to the basket, getting his own rebounds, and dishing them to our big men, Kai and Youssef, for close buckets. The end score of this quarter was 53-11.
At half-time, the boys and Coach made it clear that the goal was to keep our focus and make our score one hundred. In the third quarter the NL boys were forcing the opposition to commit turnovers but sadly our great defender, Julian, was fouled out midway through the third quarter and had to sit out the rest of the game. The final score of the third quarter was 81-24.
In the final quarter we pushed to break 100+ points and we did do so with the end score being 113-36. Our great driver Sean got another batch of points in the final quarter as Sean, Youssef and Temi all sunk their free throws. One of our players, Joe, had the wide open shot on a three and swished it. Sadly, Temi was also fouled out alongside Julian, and watched the rest of the game from the side and supported the team.
